A STRONG CEREAL, REVERED BY THE ANCIENT ROMANS. (Triticum Dicoccum)
Intense, strong, with the warm colour of the soil. This is how we see
spelt
today, a cereal that dates way back, originally from Egypt it was among the favourite foods
of the Romans who appreciated its flavour and recognised its virtues, and it was
even offered as a gift to the Gods in their religious ceremonies. Rich in vitamins,
mineral salts and vegetable fibre, spelt resists the cold and today is mainly
cultivated in mountain regions.
The spelt we use in our products is cultivated in selected fields in Umbria,
where it was originally cultivated back in Roman times.
Our processing method conserves intact all its pureness and sensorial features,
exalting its delicate flavour on the palate. A clear, full flavour, mixed with
imaginative different sauces it is always ready for new discoveries.
